About the Winter X Games 23
The X-Games is an action sports festival for extreme trend sports in the form of competitions among mountain bikers, skateboarders and motocross riders. They were founded by the American television station ESPN and first held in the USA in 1995. Later the X-Games also came to Foz do Iguacu in Brazil, Barcelona in Spain and finally to Munich in 2013.

The X-Games are held semi-annually in the summer and winter months. The summer competition takes place in July or August and the winter X-Games take place mainly in January and February. In the “Street” category, athletes face the challenges they would face in the city, such as stairs and railings. In the “Park” category, they ride in half-pipes and on ramps. The Winter X Games show disciplines such as freeskiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling and freestyle motocross. In freeskiing, the skier has to perform many tricks and overcome obstacles and slide over them. In the snowboard and snowmobile disciplines, skiers perform freestyle tricks. The ratings of this category are in the jump, i.e. turns and manoeuvres and landing. Usually the competitors drive over ski jumps or other obstacles in order to execute the jumps. In addition to the sporting core that makes up the X-Games, there is also a constantly growing supporting programme consisting of live music, DJs, workshops and beginners’ courses.
